'Joker' First set pics of the set have arrived
Joaquin Phoenix and the Joker are already one: the filming began officially this September in New York City, and in addition to moving an incredible casting, has already begun to leak even some sequence in which we can see Phoenix incarnating to the Crime Clown.
The most famous villain of all time, and one of the main antagonist characters in the history of comics and DC, begins to take shape and biography in this film. Joker will e released on 2019, but we already have the real name of Batman's nemesis, as well as a handful of high-quality images where we can appreciate the performance and work that Joaquin Phoenix is doing.
In April 2015, DC fans were facing the first image of Jared Leto characterized as the Joker for Suicide Squad. Three years later, the director Todd Philips shares the first photo of Joaquin Phoenix for the film Joker, and of course it is quite a surprise. The photo is exactly at the opposite pole from what you would expect from Batman's archivist.
There is no trace of white skin or green hair. Gone are the shrillness of Leto's Joker. There are no tattoos with "Ha Ha Ha" neither a purple glove nor metallic teeth. All we see is a middle-aged individual who would go completely unnoticed in the subway.
Philips has shared the photo with a caption of a single word: "Arthur". The name does not mean anything in the history that we know about the Joker of comics, but it confirms a very interesting rumor. It was said that in the new film, the Joker begins as a simple citizen named Arthur who returns to Gotham City to take care of his sick mother. How that point of departure ends up turning Arthur into a psychopath devoted to making Batman's life impossible is something that only Philips, Phoenix and the Joker writers know.
